Extra school sport costs £100m a minute
The average time spent by schoolchildren on sport has only increased by 14 minutes in four years despite £1.4 billion of government funding, research by the Liberal Democrats has found.
Don supports RNID and NDCS in call for 100% subtitling on all television channels
Bath’s MP, Don Foster, is backing a campaign run by RNID, the charity representing the UK’s 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people, and the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS), the national charity dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people, urging broadcasters to subtitle 100% of their programmes on all television channels.
Promise of jam tomorrow is not enough
Ahead of the debate on the Finance Bill later today [28/04], Don has attacked Government offers to compensate low income earners losing out under tax changes as “vague promises of jam tomorrow”.
Brown’s tax changes in disarray
Commenting on the Government’s announcement of concessions over its decision to abolish the 10p tax rate, Don said:

Original Olympic budget just a stab in the dark
Commenting on today’s [Tuesday] Public Accounts Committee report on the budget for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Don said:
“This report shows the figures for the original Olympic bid were at best a stab in the dark. The fact that the Government missed out so many foreseeable costs has further damaged confidence in its ability to manage budgets.
