Don Foster MP has today welcomed the announcement of an additional 336 seats on trains going in and out of Bath during peak hours. First Great Western will provide an extra carriage to 18 trains in the fleet that serves South Wales, including Bath.
Don Foster has long campaigned for Bath’s commuters fighting for greater rolling stock, particularly at peak time. The extra seats are being added thanks to Government funding for an additional 48 carriages on First Great Western services for Reading, the Thames Valley and into Bristol and the far south west of England.
Commenting Don Foster said, “This is great news for Bath residents that rely on using the trains at peak times. This additional funding from government will make a real difference to Bath and the surrounding towns and cities”
He continued, “We still face a huge challenge however in making these extra places affordable for Bath’s commuters. I will continue to push the government to live up to the coalition agreement to review rail fare increases”
