Commenting on the draft Gambling Bill, Don Foster MP, Liberal Democrat
Shadow Secretary for Culture, Media and Sport, said:

"I welcome this attempt to update our antiquated Gambling laws and allow
controlled growth in the industry.

"It is essential that any growth in the number of casinos must be coupled
with regeneration and tourism benefits. I am also concerned that the
measures to protect the vulnerable are not yet strong enough.

"I'm delighted that consultation on the final wording of the Bill will
continue. Several changes are still needed.The imbalance in the tax burden
on gambling means that every week thousands of bingo players are getting a
worse deal from the Government than casino gamblers."
