Don Foster MP*

Bath’s MP, Don Foster, today called for more investment in encouraging young people to take part in sport.

Responding to the concerns raised by Jason Leonard and a number of other top sports stars today in a letter to The Times, Don said:

Main Image"I am delighted that our top sportspeople are raising these issues publicly.

"The Liberal Democrats have argued for a long time that young people need to play more sport, yet the Government's record on this is woeful.

"They've missed their targets so badly they've had to change them.

"Liberal Democrat Research has shown that if all the children driven less than a mile to school walked instead then the nation would shed the equivalent of 30,000 John Prescotts.*

"I hope that the Government will take action now to tackle child obesity."
