Local Issues DELAY AND CONFUSION OVER NEW LICENSING ACT
Commenting on today's much delayed publication of Draft Guidance on the new Licensing Act, Don said:

"In January the Government dismissed fears that their timetable on licensing was over-optimistic. Now it is clear that there is to be further delay and confusion.

"Two months on, the whole process has been flung into reverse. Far from implementing the Act in January 2005, July 2005 now appears the earliest likely start date.

Don has warned Bath’s pensioners not to be fooled by the extra £100 promised to pensioners in today’s budget.

This cash billed as helping pensioners cope with their council tax will disappear after 2004/5.

"This Budget has a hole right at its heart as the Chancellor has postponed the tough decisions until after the next election.

DON CONDEMNS MADRID TERRORIST ATTACKS
Commenting on the Terrorist Attacks in Spain, Bath’s MP, Don Foster said,

"This is a grievous atrocity.

“All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those killed in this savage and cowardly attack.

“We must all stand united against such terrible acts of terrorism.”

"But we must also avoid a rush to judgement simply because of the scale of the casualties. Painstaking analysis is required before blame can validly be attributed to any group or movement."
