Passengers Concerns Must Be Addressed
Commenting on today's publication of the Rail Passenger Council's Annual Report, Don Foster MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Transport, said:
"This report is a further reminder of the public's growing dissatisfaction with the Government's handling of our railways, not least in respect of performance. "
"The Rail Passenger Council rightly criticises the Government for the recently announced fare increases at a time when 10 to 15% of fares remain uncollected. It is unacceptable that honest passengers continue to pick up the tab for fare-dodgers.
"The autumn weather will be the 'litmus test' for Network Rail, according to the Rail Passenger Council. But after the last week's national delays thanks to 'too much heat' it doesn't look good."
