Lib Dems Release SOS For Our NHS Survey
Bath Liberal Democrats' "SOS for our NHS" campaign has released the findings of their survey of local health care professionals about the impact that the proposed £15million cut to B&NES; PCT budget, will have on patient care.
The survey shows that 83% of respondents believe that these cuts will adversely affect health care delivery, and that 67% are not happy with the proposed restructuring and cuts by the PCT.
Commenting on the survey Bath's MP, Don Foster, who is backing the campaign said:
"Thanks must go to all those who took part in the survey, it shows there's real concern amongst those on the health care front line about these cuts, and how they will affect patient care.
"We all know that our health staffs do a tremendous job, even under the most demanding conditions; and that the PCT is under severe pressure to keep within its budgets. No criticism can be laid at their doors. Instead, the Government must realise that our local PCT is severely under funded and has forever been playing 'catch-up' because of debts inherited from the old Avon Health Authority.
"I've called on the government to write off these debts and to provide further funding for our PCT."
Local Lib Dem Councillor, Keith Kirwan said:
"I am very concerned about the loss of these facilities in our communities a position that is shared by the majority of people who responded to the survey.
"I've received hundreds of moving letters from local residents who are horrified at the cuts the PCT is proposing in our area."
