Don Foster Fights For Local Rail Services

Commenting on the evaluation of the future of the Bristol - Bath - London Waterloo train service on which a decision is expected imminently, Don Foster, MP for Bath, commented:

"The Bath-Waterloo service is incredibly useful. It's relatively cheap and it offers a perfect springboard for London's West End, the City and the Eurostar trains.

"Having two routes to London also relieves congestion and track maintenance delays. With the West Coast mainline upgrade and major disruption on the horizon, keeping the Bath-Waterloo service running essential.

"Today, I've written to the Secretary of State expressing my strong support for the service and demanding that the people who use it are consulted before any decision is taken.

"I urge supporters of the service to write to me and I will pass your comments on to the Secretary of State to keep this gateway to London open."
