New Homes Allocation for Bath & North East Somerset

Bath MP, Don Foster has welcomed the announcement this week that the New Homes Bonus allocation for Bath and North East Somerset will total £3,709,239. This includes an affordable homes premium of £40,250.

The New Homes Bonus ensures that those local authorities which promote and welcome growth can share in the economic benefits, and build the communities in which people want to live and work. Councils are free to spend the Bonus as they choose, including on front-line services and keeping Council Tax low.

The allocations will total £1.17 billion for English local authorities in 2015-2016. Taken together with instalments from previous years, this brings the total amount of funding awarded under the New Homes Bonus to almost £3.4 billion.

Commenting, Don Foster said: “This is great news for Bath. This New Homes Bonus allocation will enable the Council to continue promoting growth within the local economy and see Bath get stronger and stronger.”

The total number of net additional homes awarded over the same period is over 800,000. That includes over 100,00 empty homes brought back into use and over 20,000 affordable homes provided.
